Cricket

Cricket has been played in Kenya for over a 100 years.  The first recorded match was played in September 1896 in Mombasa.  From its early colonial roots, Kenya embraced the game to such an extent that the national team has played in every ICC World Cup since 1996 and achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the semi-final stage in 2003.

Kenya has become the destination of choice for cricket tours for prep and senior schools, universities, clubs, counties, provincial and international sides.

Your itinerary can take you to three cricket playing centres: Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru where cricket is played on excellent quality grass wickets.  Nairobi’s leading cricket grounds include: Nairobi Gymkhana, Nairobi Jafferies, Nairobi Club, Parklands Sports Club, Aga Khan Sports Club, Ruaraka Sports Club, Simba Union, Premier Club, Ngara Sports Club, Shree Cutchi Lewa.  Mombasa has Mombasa Sports Club and Coast Gymkhana and in Nakuru the Rift Valley Sports Club and Greensteds School.

After two weeks on tour many cricket lessons will have been learnt, team spirit and many new friendships forged. The glimpses of tribal culture, natural wonders of the world, warm seas, white sands and the deep roar of a lion splitting the African night asunder… will all be a bonus.
